Axley & Rode, LLP is pleased to announce the promotion of Shay Hobbs and Mehgan Ibañez to the position of partner at the firm effective January 1, 2022.

Shay Hobbs, CPA, has over thirty years of experience in public accounting and has been with the firm for more than 16 years. Her tax practice focuses on individuals, small businesses, tax-exempt organizations, and Quickbooks.
Shay, a Lufkin native, graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. She loves to learn and is passionate about teaching other accountants what she knows. Outside of the office, Shay enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with her family.
Mehgan Ibañez, CPA, joined the firm in 2017 as a senior audit associate. She has over 11 years of professional auditing experience, including seven years in public accounting and four years in internal audit for publicly traded companies. Her current practice focuses on assurance and advisory services related to financial reporting, internal control, and compliance serving financial institutions and utility cooperatives.
Mehgan grew up in East Texas and became interested in accounting at Groveton High School. She attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Master of Science in Accounting. When Mehgan is not working, she enjoys gardening and reading.
